PROM SKIN PREP CHECKLIST
Prom is around the corner, so it’s time to start getting your skin ready for the big night. You have your dress, and know exactly how you want to style your hair, now you have to make sure your skin is glowing before you take all those photos. Here are some tips to make sure your skin is camera ready (#flawless) on prom night.
MAINTAIN A SKIN CARE ROUTINE
Maintaining a regular, customized skin care routine is important for everyone. Healthy skin requires time and energy, especially if you want to see results. It’s easy to forget to stick to a skincare regimen every single day when you're constantly on the go.
Leading up to prom night, try not to slack. Keep your routine simple and set reminders to cleanse and moisturize your skin every day. For a simple skin care routine Evolution Medical Spa recommends using an antioxidant product in the morning followed by a moisturizer and retinol product before bed. If you make this a habit, everything else works together.
REMOVE YOUR MAKEUP EVERY NIGHT
Clogged pores lead to breakouts. To keep your pores free from bacteria, dirt and cosmetic buildup, make sure you cleanse your face before bed. Makeup and dirt will block your pores, it’s impossible to have healthy looking skin if it’s constantly clogged and breaking out.
GET A HYDRAFACIAL
Getting a HydraFacial is a great way to cleanse, exfoliate, and nourish your skin for a glowing complexion. A HydraFacial will purify the skin, exfoliate all those dead skin cells, and help minimize the appearance of large pores, which will also create a smooth, flawless canvas for your makeup.
Add potent antioxidants to your diet, like blueberries and sweet potatoes. Foods rich in potassium like an avocado, and omega-3 fatty acids are also great. However, eating healthy foods and staying hydrated are not a substitute for a balanced skin care regimen. Most skin hydration comes from the outside. You can do a little bit with diet and water consumption, but you really need to make sure that you moisturize your skin well.
PREP YOUR NAILS
If your cuticles are dry and cracked, try using a nourishing cuticle oil to add moisture. Your cuticles will be softer and smoother, which will perfectly complement your fresh manicure.
USE A LIP SCRUB
Make sure to gently exfoliate your lips to help remove those pesky dead skin cells from skin’s surface. Try an at home sugar lip scrub once or twice per week. Your lips will be prepped for an even coat of lipstick or gloss, which will last longer on prom night.
